Teaching "Gender and..." to Master Students - A Conversation with Prof. Janne Tienari, Finland

Janne is Professor of Management and Organization at Hanken School of Economics in Finland. His research and teaching interests include gender and diversity, feminist theory, strategy work, managing multinational corporations, mergers and acquisitions, branding and media, and changing academia from a critical perspective. He is Senior Editor of Organization Studies. Prof. Tienari’s work has been published in leading journals such as Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Organization Studies, Organization, Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, and Gender, Work and Organization.

In our video conversation we discuss Prof. Tienari's views of engaged scholarship with a special attention to management education. Janne also shares a wonderful example of team teaching a course of Gender, Management, and Organisation to a variety of Master students. This conversation includes pedagogical reflections and practical examples on design, students/teachers relations, assessment and curriculum choices. Janne also reflects on the synergies, support, and long standing work in the area of diversity, gender, equality, and social sustainability of the Godess Institute
